What Is Dental and Medical Clinic Millwork?
Clinic millwork is the built-in casework in a healthcare space: operatory rear and side cabinets, sterilization centres, exam room cabinetry, nurse stations and reception desks. It has to be cleaned with disinfectants many times a day, hold instruments and supplies where clinicians can reach them without leaving the chair, and fit around plumbing, air, vacuum and electrical rough-ins.
We build clinic millwork in the same GTA shop as our residential work, using commercial millwork materials and AWMAC standards. Most of our clinic projects are new dental and physiotherapy practices in converted retail units around Leslieville, the Danforth and North Toronto.
Types of Clinic Millwork
Dental operatories
Rear delivery cabinets, side cabinets and sinks laid out around the chair and the operator's reach zones. We coordinate with your equipment dealer on chair position and delivery system.
Sterilization centres
A clear dirty-to-clean flow: receiving sink, ultrasonic and washer, sterilizer, then clean storage. Counters are joint-free Corian and edges are PUR-sealed.
Reception desks
Desks with an accessible-height transaction counter, privacy screens and cable management for front-desk systems.
Medical exam rooms and physio clinics
Exam room casework with glove box cut-outs, locking drawers and towel cubbies.

Why PUR edges matter in clinics
Standard edge banding uses glue that softens with repeated disinfectant contact, which lets moisture into the core. PUR-glued edges stay sealed.
Common Clinic Millwork Problems
Edges swelling after a year of cleaning
Fixed with HPL faces and PUR-sealed edges.
Cabinets that do not match the rough-ins
Fixed with shop drawings coordinated with your plumber, electrician and equipment dealer.
Late millwork delaying the opening
Fixed by scheduling backward from your opening date and installing after hours where needed. For admin areas, see office workspace cabinetry.
Planning Clinic Millwork With Your Team
The best clinic layouts come from the people who use them. Before shop drawings, we sit down with the dentist or clinician, the hygienist or nurse lead and the practice manager. We ask which instruments are used most, where assistants stand during procedures, how trays move from the operatory to sterilization and back, and what has to be locked.
From there, the millwork follows a few rules. Instruments used every procedure live within the operator's reach without turning around. Sterilization runs in one direction, dirty to clean, with no backtracking. Reception keeps patient information out of sight from the waiting room and gives staff a clear view of the door.
Coordinating With Other Trades
Equipment dealer
We build around the dealer's chair, delivery and sterilizer specs, confirming rough-in locations before fabrication.
Plumber and electrician
Sinks, vacuum, air and power locations are drawn into shop drawings so cut-outs land where the services come through.
General contractor
We work to the GC's schedule, deliver after rough-ins and finish before final inspections.
Landlord
Shop drawings and a COI are provided for landlord approval in multi-tenant buildings.
Maintaining Clinic Cabinetry
HPL and Corian surfaces handle hospital-grade disinfectants. Follow the manufacturer's cleaner list and avoid abrasive pads on solid surface. PUR-sealed edges resist moisture, but standing water at the base of cabinets should be wiped up. Blum hinges and runners adjust with a screwdriver, and we provide priority response on repairs.
Questions to Ask Any Clinic Millwork Supplier
- What edge banding and glue system do you use?
- Can you coordinate with my equipment dealer directly?
- How quickly can you provide a COI?
- Can installs happen after hours if we are already open?
- Who handles repairs after we open?
