What Goes Into Custom Laundry Room Cabinetry?
Laundry room cabinetry is storage, counter space and hanging space built around your washer and dryer. The room is humid, things spill, and in many Toronto houses it sits in a basement corner next to the drain stack and the electrical panel. Stock cabinets struggle in that environment, so we build laundry rooms with the same moisture-resistant HDF boxes as our bathroom vanities and marine-grade ply beside the machines.
Types of Laundry Rooms We Build
Basement laundries
The most common Toronto scope. We template around stacks, panels, bulkheads and sloped slabs, step uppers down where the ceiling drops and keep clearances at the panel and water heater.
Main-floor and second-floor laundries
Smaller rooms or closets with stacked or side-by-side machines, uppers, a hanging rod and pull-outs.
Laundry and mudroom combinations
A laundry run with a boot bench, lockers and hooks by the side door. Pairs well with built-in storage elsewhere in the house.

Counters are quoted with the cabinets. Caesarstone quartz is the most durable folding surface; Formica laminate keeps the budget down.

A counter over a front-loader looks great until the washer needs a repair. We support the counter on side panels with service clearance, so the machines slide out without removing anything.

Planning a Laundry Room: Measurements That Matter
Bring three things to the design visit: the make and model of your washer and dryer, the location of the water supply, drain and dryer vent, and a note of anything you cannot move, such as the electrical panel, the water heater or a drain stack.
Machine specs set the counter height. Most front-loaders are 38 to 40 inches tall with a pedestal, or 33 to 34 inches without. We allow at least 1 inch of clearance above the machine and 6 inches behind it for hoses and the vent, then set the folding counter on side panels so the machines slide out for service.
Clearance in front matters as much as storage. Front-load doors swing about 22 inches, and you need room to stand while loading. Keep at least 36 inches clear in front of the machines.

Pull-out hampers
A double hamper sorts lights and darks and slides away when full.
Hanging rod
A rod under the uppers or beside the machines handles drip-dry and freshly pressed shirts.
Pull-out drying rack
A rack that slides out of a base cabinet for delicates, then disappears.

A narrow pull-out beside the machines keeps bottles off the counter.

A marine-grade sink base for hand-washing and stain soaking.
Caring for Laundry Cabinets
Wipe spills on fronts and counters right away; detergent can stain unsealed surfaces. Check hoses once a year behind the machines. Our boxes are moisture-resistant, but a burst hose is still a burst hose, and a quick check prevents a flood.

Laundry Rooms Across the GTA
